Editorial Policy
Democracy Insight aims to explain politics, public institutions and democratic processes in a calm, serious and accessible way.
Our work is non-partisan. We may analyse decisions, proposals, systems and public conduct, but we do not exist to campaign for a political party or to tell readers which party to support.
We aim to distinguish clearly between factual explanation, analysis, commentary and campaign positions. Where a piece expresses a view, that should be clear to readers.
We seek to use reliable sources, link to primary material where possible, and avoid unnecessary sensationalism. Complex issues should be explained without pretending they are simpler than they are.
Democracy Insight may publish campaigns on democratic reform, safer public debate, local government and related issues. Campaign positions should be based on stated principles and evidence, not party-political advantage.
Editorial judgement sits with Democracy Insight. We welcome constructive challenge, corrections and evidence that improves the quality of our work.
